That means it will automatically download and install once it's done. This new mechanism is a decent way to ensure all devices have the latest security patches, bug fixes, and improvements, but it's not an option everyone likes. Also, uploading these updates can consume your internet connection and slow down your computer.

Disable automatic updates in Windows 10 (Services.msc,Background intelligence,gpedit.msc)

1.Disable Windows 10 Update using Services.msc 

Using the Win + R keyboard shortcut, type services.msc to access your PC’s service settings. Or Search Start Menu Services 

Select the Windows Update service from the Services list.


Click on the “General” tab and change the “Startup Type” to “Disabled”.

2.Disable Background intelligence Transfer Service 

Select the Background intelligence Transfer Service service from the Services list.


Double click on it to open the tool and then change the option of Startup type to Disabled.If the service is currently running, press Stop to stop it immediately. Apply > OK


3.Using Group Policy to Stop Windows 10 Updates | gpedit.msc

If you don't have gpedit.msc on your computer,Download+ install it here (Local_group_policy_editor/ FOR WINDOWS 10 Home)


Open the Start menu or hit the Windows key + S and type gpedit.msc and hit Enter to open the group policy editor.
 

Click on Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Updates.

Windows Components > Windows Updates.

Choose the option on the right to “Configure Automatic Updates.”

Then, check Disabled and click Apply, and then OK.


After complete the steps, Windows Update will automatically stop downloading Windows 10/11 updates. However, you can check for updates in the Settings app if you prefer.
